Pablo Neruda’s La Sebastiana

La Sebastiana Museum House in Valparaíso, Chile

Stroll the rolling hills of Valpo on your way to “La Sebastiana,” the home of famed poet Pablo Neruda. Neruda named La Sebastiana in honor of its builder, Sebastián Collado, who he once praised by saying “even if Sebastián did not write verse, he was a poet of construction.” It was within this home that Neruda completed his Nobel Prize-winning work. The house was rebuilt in great detail to provide the public an opportunity to view the poet’s prolific work, archival photographs as well as unique personal effects. Don’t miss the “jar of smoke,” a post-modern fireplace designed by Neruda himself.
